is Chicago's coffeehouse for gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender youths, and their friends, 17 to 24 years old.
Cafe Pride is open from 8:00 pm to midnight on Friday nights. Some nights we're busy most nights we have small conversation groups.
Cafe Pride is
located in the Parish House of Lake View Presbyterian Church at 716 W. Addison in Chicago,
Illinois. Although we meet in a church and many of us are religious, we're not all
Christian and don't require you to be religious. (We don't beat up people with the Bible,

religious and being gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgendered, or questioning is not a
contradiction.

Cafe Pride is different from most social service agencies, commercial coffeehouses, or support groups.
Cafe Pride is a ministry of gay and straight people with the conviction that growing up requires a lot of mental and emotional work. We believe that sometimes that work is best accomplished in a safe space where other pressures can be ignored. We do believe in encouraging spirituality among all persons, but we aren't trying to convert anyone to any one religious tradition. (Although we've been known to make fun of really bad haircuts.)
